Introducing the new ESOMAR Climate Pledge

The ESOMAR community covers the whole world and we are hoping that we can all come together to help do our bit to make sure that the world remains the beautiful place it is now. As climate change starts impacting countries and microplastics and other pollutants impact people, we should all try to play our part in making the planet a better place.
However, our wonderful research community is very diverse. We have companies of all shapes and sizes in countries of all types. So we are trying to come together through our industry associations. We kicked off the process with the MRS in the UK and then ADM in Germany. Now ESOMAR will take on the challenge of making this movement truly global.
Our first move as ESOMAR is to kick off the Climate Pledge, asking CEOs to sign up to limit their companies impact on the planet. This pledge includes some specific actions and practical advice that companies can take and we will have expertise and advice on hand to help people make those changes. But this is only the first stage.
We will then be launching an ESOMAR Sustainability Library. We hope that this library will become the world’s repository of what consumers around the world think about the planet, sustainability, climate change and what governments and brands are doing about it. Anytime you do research around these issues see if it is possible to share that research not just with your direct clients but also with the world. We can all share our work and make the great insights that we gather available to governments, NGOs, journalists and academics so that the impact of our work can be maximized in the battle to save and improve our planet. This could be a great legacy for our insights community to share with the world.
And of course, we want everyone to help out as much as they can. There is the pledge for companies to sign up to, the library for people to put their work into but also a movement for people to get involved in. Every country, every company and every person will have the chance to play a role. We are facing a big challenge but if we all do something, if we all get involved even in small ways, if we can help support each other on this journey, if we can share ideas and insights and come together as a global community then we really will make a difference.
