In Memoriam: Daniel Leconte

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel Leconte, a dedicated and influential figure in the market research community, who served as President of ESOMAR from 1998 to 2000.

Daniel's journey with ESOMAR began as Vice President, and his commitment and vision led him to the presidency, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's global outlook. During his tenure, he was actively involved in significant projects in Paris and Portugal, notably his impactful work with Renault. Daniel saw ESOMAR as a watchtower for the industry, vigilantly overseeing developments and ensuring the organization's relevance on a global scale.

Mario Hamersveld, President from 1996 to 1998, fondly recalls, "Daniel followed me after acting as Vice President. He was balanced in his views and always brought a sense of humor and friendliness to our meetings. I remember we often asked him to choose the wine at dinners; after some study and deliberation, he always recommended the same wine, much to our amusement."

John Kelly, President from 2000 to 2002, shared, "Daniel was a private person but deeply committed to market research and ensuring it was conducted appropriately. He championed its use at Renault and was a strong advocate for ESOMAR's role not only in Europe but worldwide. He was convinced that our approaches improved the profession of market research."

Daniel will be remembered for his dedication, balanced perspectives, and the warmth he brought to his professional relationships. His legacy within ESOMAR and the broader market research community is profound and enduring.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed.
