Ray Poynter
President at ESOMARRay has spent the last 45 years at the intersection of insights, research, and new thinking. Ray has held director-level positions with companies such as The Research Business, IntelliQuest, Millward Brown, and Vision Critical. Ray is committed to the research and insights industry, having been a member of ESOMAR for over 30 years and a fellow of the MRS.
In recent years Ray’s work has focused on training, writing, speaking and sharing. Ray has run training workshops for a variety of national and international organisations, including RANZ, TRS, JMRA, MRS and ESOMAR. Ray has written textbooks, taught at Saitama and Nottingham Universities, regularly blogs, and is active on social media.
In 2023, Ray was elected President of ESOMAR.
Dharmendra Jain
ESOMAR Committee Member, Founder & CEO at ACTNABLE AIDharmendra is the Founder & CEO of a Nairobi-based startup, ACTNABLE AI, and Kantar's former Regional Operations Director for West, East & Central Africa. Dharmendra is a current council member of ESOMAR and coordinator of ESOMAR’s AI Taskforce.
Dharmendra is a seasoned data and insights professional with over two decades of experience in the market research industry, including over a decade in Africa. He specialises in developing tech/AI-based innovative solutions, data science and analytics to deliver strategic insights. Internationally recognized thought leader and speaker on AI's impact on Data Quality and Operational Excellence. A mentor and people person who believes in bringing out the best in others.
Alina SERBANICA, PhD
ESOMAR Representative, Senior Vice-President at IpsosAlina Serbanica is Senior Vice President at Ipsos, leading the worldwide Total Operations Data Privacy inside the company.
She has over 30 years of experience in market research and her broader expertise on both online and offline, on delivering market research services and on handling global online operations represent her great asset for dealing with the new data privacy environment, under a very dynamic pace technology, big data, social media, passive data collection and artificial intelligence have nowadays. Alina is member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and she is part of the ESOMAR Liaisons taskforce in the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO), working in the Technical Committee dealing with the ISO 20252 for Market Research.
Since April 2023, Alina is Member of the ESOMAR Council (Board of Directors) for the 2023 – 2024 elected mandate. Previously, between 2010 and 2023, she served as the ESOMAR Representative in Romania, and she is co-founder member of The Romanian Society of Marketing and Public Opinion Research (SORMA), currently the President of SORMA.
Corrine Moy
ESOMAR Council MemberCorrine Moy is a widely renowned expert in the marketing & data science space, with a track record for innovation and excellence. She has managed large global Marketing & Data Science practices, with up to 100 science professionals. She currently provides consulting services in these areas.
Corrine is a regular contributor to industry conferences and publications, with many awards for this work. She has a long history of teaching, both science and research topics, for the UK-based Market Research Society and for many other research institutes. She has developed innovations in many areas of marketing/data science and research, most latterly an award-winning modular survey methodology, a hybrid research design approach, as well as a unique approach to measuring brand equity.
Joaquim Bretcha
Director General at ESOMARJoaquim Bretcha is the Director General of ESOMAR and an Economist at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. As a longstanding member of the ESOMAR Council, he has significantly contributed to the creation and expansion of the International Business Unit at Netquest since 2010. These roles ensure his constant involvement with the international market research community and keep him up-to-date with the latest industry developments.
Previously, Joaquim has held several key positions including Director of Marketing and Purchases at Auchan supermarkets in Spain, Retail Director at Kantar Worldpanel Spain, and Merchandising Director at Carrefour supermarkets in Spain. More recently, he co-founded the NGO "Health us Nepal" which aims to improve healthcare in the remote region of Humla, and he has shared his experiences as a TEDx speaker in England.
Joaquim's motto during his ESOMAR presidency, "Building bridges," reflects his commitment to connecting people and businesses to foster progress. His extensive background defines him as an experienced international manager with expertise in the data, insights, and market research industry. He is a strong business development professional with skills in negotiation, sales, public communication, team engagement, and management.
Claudio Gennaro
Legal and Public Affairs Manager at ESOMARClaudio joined ESOMAR in 2021. In this capacity as Legal and Public Affairs Manager he is responsible for coordinating ESOMAR’s advocacy efforts.
Claudio is a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/E), obtained a master degree in law “magna cum laude”, and specialized in international relations as master of ceremonies and international protocol. Prior to joining ESOMAR, he also worked as a data privacy analyst at Tesla, compliance officer in different companies throughout the entire digital data-chain and legal trainee in the aero-space sector.
Xabier Palacio
ESOMAR Staff, Head of Intelligence, Standards and Advocacy at ESOMARXabier has been guiding and coordinating the creation of studies, reports and other publications at ESOMAR’s Intelligence Unit since 2018 and now leads the Departments of Professional Standards and Public Affairs. He holds two MSc in International Economics as well as in Marketing from the Erasmus University of Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
His departments provide information and guidance to the industry with documents that include ICC/ESOMAR International Code of Conduct, the Global Market Research report, one of ESOMAR’s most highly regarded member benefit, the Evolution of the Data, Analytics and Insights Industry, ESOMAR’s Global Top Insights Companies ranking and several guidelines to conduct research responsibly.
He has carried out fundamental research to structure the industry through the lattice of research, and created the Insights Market Development Index (IMDI) of countries, which ESOMAR adopted as the backbone for its dynamic pricing model. Originally from Spain, Xabier has been living in the Netherlands for a number of years, is fluent in Spanish and English, has a decent command of Dutch, and loves music about as much as analysis.
Judith Passingham
ESOMAR Committee Member, Chair of the Professional Standards Committee at ESOMARJudith Passingham has worked in the Market Research industry for over 35 years, in many different roles from General Management, Client Account Leadership, Service Development, to Sales and Operations – on a Global and European basis.
She started her career at the British Market Research Bureau working on the TGI and various media measurements, then working at AGB, subsequently TNS where she ran the UK and then global panel division as CEO of ‘Worldpanel ‘ and as Joint CEO of Europanel – a joint venture between TNS and GFK.
Judith was appointed CEO of TNS Europe and then following the WPP acquisition of TNS oversaw the integration of RI and TNS in Northern and Eastern Europe. In 2014 Judith joined Ipsos to run its Access Panel services where she drove service integration into one global entity, launched device agnostic interviewing and programmatic sampling.
In 2016 she took on responsibility for Ipsos’s Operational capability. She retired in 2019 and volunteers for Pilotlight and for the Maple Lodge Nature Reserve. In January 2020 she was appointed as Chair of the Professional Standards Committee for ESOMAR.
Kim Smouter
ESOMAR Committee Member, Chair of ESOMAR's Legal Affairs Committee at ENARKim L. Smouter Umans is currently ESOMAR's Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee. Kim L. Smouter Umans is also Director General of the European Network Against Racism (ENAR), having joined the organisation in March 2022. Kim previously worked as ESOMAR’s Head of Public Affairs and Professional Standards, where he led ESOMAR's efforts championing the value of market, opinion and social research and data analytics.
Kim also served a stint as Secretary General of the European Network of National Civil Society Associations. As its first Secretary General, Kim laid the foundations for securing its role and its future as one of Europe’s leading bodies defending the interests of the non-profit sector by bringing together over 20 national civil society infrastructure platforms.
He has also served in various policy roles working for the North-East England Office in Brussels and in the European Parliament, working in the fields of social policy, education, and employment.
He holds a master’s degree in European Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in European Studies and is a graduate of the University of Maastricht.

Head of Training & Development at The Research SocietySue is the Head of Training and Development for the Research Society in Australia and is passionate about helping people develop the research skills they will need for a bright future and enjoys working at the intersection of research and learning.
Sue has a long history of being interested in the future of research and applying new technology to research to create better outcomes. She is one of the founders of NewMR and co-author of “The Handbook of Mobile Market Research” and co-editor and curator of the ESOMAR book, “Answers to Contemporary Market Research Questions” and author of numerous papers, articles, presentations, and webinars.

Her client-side experience includes leading global insights and analytics across INTO Global and Pearson’s portfolio of services, driving education, technology and product innovation in core markets. During her tenure at digital-first insurance company Ageas, she transformed the insight function into an analytical powerhouse. Khan also brings agency-side experience, running her own research consultancy for six years and supporting a wide array of private- and public-sector clients.
Nikki Lavoie

Nikki is a spirited and intuitive researcher who translates her passion for understanding people into strategic insight. She has focused largely on combining ethnographic and digital techniques in a cross-cultural context, as a result of her years spent in the US and as an expat living in Paris.
In addition to her role on ESOMAR Council, Nikki also sits on the Board of the AQR (Association of Qualitative Research). She has been presenting on topics like agile qualitative research, culture & linguistics and DEI (diversity, equality and inclusion) for over 15 years.

Melanie has spent more than 25 years designing, executing, and interpreting research for agencies and corporations, and is an industry voice in market research for quality, trends and the next generation of data collection. Known as an expert methodologist, she started her career at a full-service research firm in Dallas where she spent ten years developing her strong research background. She then followed that with a decade specializing in all forms of digital research including online, mobile and social. Melanie has successfully developed and launched leading sampling platforms, routers, methodology best practices, panels and research products.

Founded in 1954, Adetem is the most important Association of marketers and market researchers in France.
At Adetem, Dominique successively held the positions of Documentalist, External Relations Officer and Sub-editor of the Revue Française du Marketing (operational marketing research journal, created in 1956 and published until 2018). As a member of the Editorial Board, she worked alongside the best French specialists in market research and marketing.
She was then promoted to the position of Managing Director of Adetem for 20 years, contributing with the Board of Directors and the permanent team to the development and diversification of the services offered by the Association.
